A Medical Misadventure

17/9/2012

I am coming to the conclusion that modern medicine is a fear based practice.

Many months ago a chest scan was called for, with nothing to show for it other than “perhaps you should have a thyroid scan”.  The results are back “You have two nodules on your thyroid”.  My questions in regard to their danger were basically answered with the response “You now need a biopsy”.

This news sent me to Google to discover that there is a 10% chance of something malignant hiding there, and if I combine this knowledge with the fact that my diet is inhibiting the growth of unwanted cells, I calculate the chance of discovering a malignant cancer to be lower than the stated potential for a false positive to be found.  Not sufficient to persuade me to go further down the track.

However the mental effect is more insidious.  Western medicine leaves us with more fear than hope. The hope is that if a problem exists, pharmaceuticals and surgery will alleviate it.   The fear is that to achieve this goal, we are  likely to be subjected to physical abuse and pharmaceutical side effects, with no promise of reversing the condition.

Proponents of a strict plant based whole food diet leave me with a much more confident attitude and I am aided in this with the assistance of a trusted practitioner of Chinese medicine, who is now treating my problem without side effects or intervention. My mental condition is now fully repaired and I can return to my sense of complete well-being.

Such is the ignorance of Western society that when old Wayne on National radio was interviering a visiting Chinese doctor who practiced preventative medicine as is the norm in China for the past few thousand years, Wayne asked, but do you think this type of treatment will last? Modern western medicine, two hundred years tops!

I appreciate your perspective on finding hope through alternative practices.

Having joined the fast growing group of people who recognise the value of living on plant based whole food, I now want to share my experiences and views with as many others as possible.
