7 Rules for living well
Follow these 7 principles and you will be healthy.
1. Eat Root Vegetables. Starch is the source of life and energy. Any plant that has stored starch for subsequent reproduction is ideal for you. Root vegetables provide the broadest, most varied and most effective sources of starch. Boil them, steam them, sauté them, bake them.
2. Eat whole Grains. They are full of starch. Eat oat porridge every breakfast. If the word WHOLE is not in front of grain listed in an ingredient list, don’t buy.
3. Eat Beans and Lentils. They are delicious and another source of starch.
4. Eat greens of every variety and colour. Cooked or raw, vegetables are king!
5. Drink water. You can’t go wrong with water.
6. NO OIL. Empty all oil, even virgin olive oil out of your cupboards so you cannot use it. Instead any liquid works. Vegetable stock, water, wine, beer, orange juice, carrot juice, vinegar all work as a sauté base Make sure that there is no added oil in the bread you eat
7. Avoid sugar, salt and processed foods. Prepare your meals, at home, from whole foods. If you must buy a prepared food, read the Labels, you will be surprised how many “zero fat” products have oil listed in the ingredients.
